You are obliged to report any damage immediately. To do so, please contact a local Hertz employee directly or contact us by telephone on 0848 443 789.

What do I have to pay attention to when I start my journey?

For your own safety, please note the following points:

  • Check the vehicle for any damage when you start your journey.
  • Make all the necessary adjustments before you start the vehicle: adjust the seat and steering wheel to your needs, optimally align the side and rear view mirrors, find your preferred radio station, regulate the temperature, fasten your seat belt, etc.
  • Switch on the lights. According to the law, driving with lights on is obligatory in Switzerland, even during the day.
  • In winter, make sure that good visibility is guaranteed through all windows. Pay full attention to the traffic from the start of the journey at the latest.

Can I return the vehicle later?

Unless a confirmed reservation extension has been made by you in advance, you must return the vehicle at the scheduled rental end time. Hertz will charge a late return fee.

Vehicles

Are there vehicles with trailer coupling?

Yes, the C4 category is equipped with a trailer coupling. Please note the maximum permissible trailer load.

Can Hertz vans be fitted with child seats? ausstatten?

Hertz does not offer permanently installed child seats in the vehicles. A child seat infrastructure for children up to four years of age is not feasible on the one hand for reasons of liability (Hertz cannot assume responsibility for installation and proper condition) and on the other hand for practical reasons (families with small children usually already have their own child seat).

As the passenger airbags cannot be manually deactivated in some of the vehicle categories, the installation of a child seat is not permitted for safety reasons.

Are the Hertz Van vehicles prepared for the winter?

All Hertz vehicles undergo a winter check: winter tyres / all-weather tyres are fitted, windscreen antifreeze and an ice scraper are placed. Textile winter driving aids (snow socks) can be purchased at our stations.
